During October 22 to October 24, 2021, the third phase of Sunhold New Lawyer Training Camp was held at 75F of Shanghai Tower. Sunhold lawyers from Shanghai office, Hangzhou office, Hefei office and Nanjing office took part in the camp. On the busy schedule were our lawyers’ discussions on litigation and non-litigation practical experience, a moot court aimed at improving lawyers’ litigation professionalism and strain capacity in court, and courses introducing Sunhold’s internal operation as well as brand culture. Within only three days, we improved our lawyers’ mutual communication and interaction, senses of belonging to Sunhold as well as legal profession, and built an ideal interaction platform for our internal market, whose cooperative principles are “dividing the work and sharing the content are beneficial to make mutual achievements”.

Compared with the last two phases of training camps, in the third phase, we focused on the cultivation of lawyers’ litigation skills and court debate skills. Besides the courses for lawyers by experienced teachers, we paid focus on the moot court practical training and the retrospective class. In the immersive experience, our lawyers further understood and absorbed knowledge in class, practiced “teaching in learning, learning in practicing”, and improved themselves through rapid litigation skill accumulation. 

01. The Opening Ceremony

On the morning of October 22, senior partner Shenling Zhu welcomed all lawyers with a speech. Then started an ice-breaking activity in which all lawyers, after introducing themselves, introduced the lawyer on the right. Every team had a hot discussion and the whole process ended in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. Soon our lawyers went closer. 

02.  Courses by Senior Lawyers

Combining the practice characteristic and needs, we arranged three senior lawyers to share their experience in the legal practice courses.

With the theme “The Necessary Professional Skills and Quality of non-litigation lawyers - - Taking M&A as an example”, Lawyer Shenling Zhu introduced the whole process of non-litigation legal services and basic qualities of non-litigation lawyers, and discussed skills in case-handling & risk prevention taking one of her M&A cases as an example. The course had rich content, emphasized focuses, and brilliant details. 

With the theme of “Break Through at Some Single Point: on the Start Point of Proceeding”, Consultant Chen Zhao, combining her years trail experience, introduced the system of judges’ thinking model through individual cases on the basis of the differences of judge and lawyer. The course was intended to simplify lawyers’ work and improve their efficiency through visualizing the thinking model. Our lawyers all enjoyed a brainstorm of litigation strategy from the dense knowledge and compact class rhythm.

With the theme of “Necessary Professional Skills & Quality in Court”, Lawyer Mintao Chen sincerely shared his 30-year litigation experience. Through rich cases and case materials, Chen discussed a lawyer’s necessary professional skills from aspects including preparation of documentary materials, construction of litigation strategy and strain in court debates. Furthermore, beyond profession, Chen instructed that only when a lawyer keep in awe, be merciful and stay patient could he work longer and be more persistent.

03. Instruction on OA System

To make new Sunholders be familiar with Sunhold’s internal management and improve their working efficiency, Sunhold Administration team made a detailed introduction of the functions of Sunhold’s OA System, administration and brand cultures. That left a deep impression of internal administrative process, Sunhold culture and brand activities on our new Sunholders.

04.  Morning Sharing & Night Salon

On October 23, a morning sharing and a night salon were held for our training camp lawyers. Considering strain capacity and oral expression are necessary abilities of every lawyer, the two activities provided our new lawyers with a platform to speak out and enhance friendship. 

Every lawyer actively made use of this opportunity to give speeches and train their oral expression talking about their working experience, professional experience and hobbies. Thanks greatly our lawyers’ multivariate backgrounds, everyone gained a lot from the rich topics, multi-faceted perspective and novel ideas.

05. Moot Court & Retrospective Class

On the morning of October 24, new lawyers of our training camp were divided into four teams two by two took part in the two moot courts. To simulate a real court environment, lawyer Haifeng Li, lawyer Zhejun Lin and lawyer Yuqi Li from Sunhold Shanghai Office who had years of judge experience were specially invited to be the judges of this moot court. Lawyer Tingfeng Tian, lawyer Shenling Zhu, lawyer MIntao Chen and lawyer Lihong Chen took part in the judging panel. Additionally, we invited experienced lawyer Xiwen Zou, counselor Chen Zhao, lawyer Lin Ling, lawyer Xu Zhang to be the instructors of their respective team and answered the questions of the teams before the court. Thanks again to our lawyers’ hard-work as judges, instructors and in the judging panel.

It is said that “one minute on stage, ten years off stage”, the large quantity of case materials and tight schedule were both bottlenecks to our lawyers in preparing for the moot court after the high-intensity courses. Whenever after class or during the break, we could always find our lawyers discussing the cases. With the joint effort of our training camp members and our instructors who suggest on the litigation strategies, we could enjoy the brilliant moot courts.

After the moot court, representatives of every team made a reflection, and representatives of the judges, judge panel and instructors made an overall analysis from various perspectives. In the end, lawyer Mintao Chen who set the case detailedly summarized on the moot court from case facts, litigation strategies and case details from the perspective of a lawyer and provided suggestions on the basis of our training camp lawyers’ advantages and disadvantages. Finally, our Sunhold New Lawyer Training Camp ended successfully.

Comprehensively considering attendance, preparation for the moot court and performance in the moot court, we selected our best team in which the teammates are: Xiang Zhou (leader), Tianchen Li, Li Wan, Zhe Wang and Guangxiao Yuan. In the Graduation Ceremony, lawyer Shenling Zhu presented certifications for every team and lawyer Mintao Chen presented “Sunhold & Apede Mod-Jellypuff Anniversary Commemorative”round computer knapsacks for the best team. 

From this training camp, our lawyer gained rich practical experience and litigation experience through moot court. Teammates also improved their friendship and mutual interaction through teamworks. We hope this training camp can be a practical guide to our lawyers in the future. And we hope our new Sunholders could divide the work, share the content and make mutual achievements in Sunhold family and add vitality to Sunhold internal market.
